Express Issue

Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater

There are times you will need a replacement debit card, such as when it expires or if it’s lost or stolen. Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater helps pass your new card information along automatically to participating merchants where you've used your card to pay bills or make purchases online. This can save you time and help prevent late payments and disruption of services.

It’s important to note, not all merchants participate in this program. You will need to contact each merchant to ensure your card information was carried over, especially in the case of recurring payments. Also, keep in mind, there's no guarantee the account updates will take place prior to the merchant's next billing date. Let's take a look at some common questions.

What types of merchants are included in Automatic Billing Updater?

Any merchant who accepts Mastercard and offers you the ability to save your card information for future purchases or payments could be included. However, not all merchants who accept Mastercard participate. You will still need to check with each merchant. This is especially important for scheduled or recurring payments.

Can I decline using Automatic Billing Updater?

Sure! Should you opt out? Well, it depends. Having the service can help if you were to forget to update your new card information with a payee. In that case, this helps prevent missed payments, late fees and service disruptions. It can also offer convenience in your online shopping.

However, some people prefer to start fresh when they have a new card. It's really personal preference on which is more convenient for you. We'd be happy to discuss the options with you. To learn more or to opt out, give us a call at 888-547-6541 during regular business hours.

Does this apply to my credit cards, too?

If you have a Mastercard credit card, it's likely included as well. However, you will need to contact the card issuer to be sure.

Fraud Protection

While you're enjoying all the conveniences of your debit card, we're in the background monitoring your card for security 24/7. You'll get notified by text, email or phone if we notice suspicious activity. Simply respond to let us know if your card is safe or not.

Mastercard Identity Check™

Mastercard has developed a program that helps confirm your identity when you make an online purchase. This service helps make shopping online more secure by protecting against unauthorized use of your card. There’s no need to download anything, install software, or register. During an online purchase from your desktop, mobile or other digital device, you may be guided through an extra check to verify your identity. This helps us ensure you’re you and better protect you from fraud.

This service automatically works at checkout with participating merchants and was designed for both credit and debit cards when shopping online. Remember, there is no need to download anything, install software, or register your account to get this added layer of protection.

Chip Card Technology

All Bank of Missouri debit cards feature an embedded microchip for a more secure transaction. Each time you use a chip card at a chip-enabled reader, the transaction is unique, making it extremely difficult for the card to be copied or counterfeited. Chip cards also retain the magnetic strip for use at card readers that are not chip-enabled.
