Bounce Protection

We all know that at times, unexpected expenses can leave you with too little in your checking account. Having a check returned due to insufficient funds is an embarrassing and humiliating experience. That’s why The Bank of Missouri offers Bounce Protection.


What is Bounce Protection?

Bounce Protection is an overdraft protection program. The program is designed so that The Bank can, at our discretion, choose to cover your overdrafts up to the amount specified by your account type, inclusive of fees. Customers who meet the criteria for Bounce Protection will be automatically enrolled in the program. You may opt out of Bounce Protection at any time.

How does Bounce Protection Work?

As long as you keep your account in good standing, The Bank of Missouri will honor overdrafts up to your Bounce Protection limit. Please note there is an Overdraft (OD) Fee of $29.89 per item for use of the Bounce Protection limit. The OD Fees will be deducted from your available Bounce Protection limit. Your items may be paid and we will notify you by mail when an overdraft occurs. No interest will be charged on the overdraft balance.

How do I know when I use the Bounce Protection overdraft limit?

You will receive an overdraft notice in the mail each time a check is paid using your Bounce Protection limit. The notice will show the check number, amount and the Overdraft (OD) Fee. You should subtract the total fees from your check register.

I have two accounts. Can I get Bounce Protection on both?

Yes. You may have a limit on each eligible account.

What is my Bounce Protection limit?

What if I go over my Bounce Protection limit?

Overdrafts above and beyond your established Bounce Protection limit may result in items being returned. The normal Insufficient Funds Fee (NSF) of $29.89 per item will be charged to your account. A notice will also be mailed to you.

Will I have access to my limit through my ATM card or Debit card?

You may access your Bounce Protection limit for ATM withdrawals/transfers and everyday Debit Card purchases if you opt in and tell us you want to receive coverage for those transactions. You may opt in by visiting any Bank of Missouri branch, calling 888-547-6541 or mailing in the opt in form .

How quickly must I repay my Bounce Protection?

You must bring your account into a positive balance within 15 calendar days. If you fail to do so, you will receive a letter from The Bank of Missouri informing you of the situation and your options. If, after a period of time, your account has not been brought into a positive balance, the account will be closed and further steps may be taken to recover the money.

What does my Bounce Protection cost?

There is no fee for having Bounce Protection. However, please remember there is a $29.89 Overdraft Fee for each item paid using the Bounce Protection limit.

How soon can I begin using my Bounce Protection?

If you are a new active account holder, you may be able to use the overdraft privilege 30 days after the account is opened for consumers and 90 days after the account is opened for non-consumers.

When I call The Bank of Missouri AnyTime Access 24-hour Telephone Banking service, is my Bounce Protection limit included?

No, the balance reflected through our AnyTime Access service will not include the overdraft limit assigned to your account. This also applied to balances shown in your online banking or mobile banking accounts.
